Nashville Sex Offender Arrested For Raping Niece

NASHVILLE, TN -- A 55-year-old Nashville man, already on the sex offender registry, was arrested Thursday, charged with raping his niece in 2013.

According to Metro Police, the girl said her uncle, Eric Miniard, touched her inappropriately while she was visiting her grandmother in 2013 or 2014. She told interviewers the incident occurred when she went to a back bedroom at her grandmother's home to say hello.

Police located Miniard and say he admitted to the rape. Miniard told investigators the victim was five or six at the time. He also reportedly admitted he told her not to tell anyone what had happened.

Miniard has prior convictions for attempted rape and attempted sexual battery. He is charged with six counts of violating parole, two counts of rape of a child and two counts of violating the sex offender registry law.
