Sex Offender, Shooter Sought After North Nashville Murder

Metro Police are looking for a convicted child molester and a shooter connected to the murder of a man in North Nashville Monday afternoon.

NASHVILLE, TN -- A man shot during a fight in North Nashville Monday afternoon has died and Metro Police are searching for the shooter and for a convicted child molester who was allegedly at the scene.

Marquice Miles, 25, died Tuesday after being shot around 3 p.m. Monday at the intersection of 12th Avenue North and Jefferson Street. Miles was meeting an ex-girlfriend to pick up his children.

The woman's current boyfriend, Capius Maclin Jr., and two other people joined the ex-girlfriend at the meeting. Detectives said Miles was upset his children were spending time with Maclin, who is on probation following a conviction for sexual battery of a child under the age of 13. Maclin and Miles began fighting, police said, when a third man shot Maclin, who was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died.
