Pedestrian Killed In West End Crash

A 62-year-old man died after stepping into traffic on West End Wednesday night, Metro Police said.

NASHVILLE, TN -- A pedestrian died after he stepped into traffic and was hit by a passing car on West End Wednesday night, according to Metro Police.

Investigators say a Nissan traveling in the far right lane hit the man, who was attempting to cross West End between 17th and 18th Avenues, just before 11 p.m. The pedestrian was taken to nearby Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died.

The driver remained on the scene and told police she was unable to avoid hitting the man, who was identified as William Wolfe, 62.

Investigators said there were no indications of drug or alcohol use on the scene.
