State Begins Pre-Halloween Check-Ups Of Sex Offenders
The Tennessee Department of Correction is beginning compliance checks of registered sex offenders ahead of Halloween.

NASHVILLE, TN ― Tennessee Department of Correction officials are making their annual statewide sweep of registered sex offenders to insure they are complying with regulations regarding Halloween.
During Tennessee's annual Operation Blackout, probation and parole officers conduct full-home searches of people on the state's sex offender registry in the days before trick-or-treating and make sure those people are aware of the rules.

- Must be inside of their homes from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Halloween night
- Porch lights must be off
- They cannot wear costumes.
- They cannot have any Halloween decorations.
- Not allowed to open their doors to trick-or-treaters.
