Suspect Arrested In North Nashville Gas Station Murder

A man wanted for an October 6 murder at a Marathon station near TSU was arrested in Dyersburg.

DYERSBURG, TN — The suspect in an October 6 murder at a North Nashville gas station was arrested in Dyersburg Sunday night.

Danny Haskins, 57, is the alleged gunman in the murder of 35-year-old Nashvillian Quinton Thornton, who was standing beside in Dodge Challenger outside a Marathon station on John A. Merritt Boulevard. Witnesses said Thornton began arguing with the occupants of a nearby Lincoln Continental.

When Thornton walked over to the Lincoln, he was shot in the back. The shooter, believed to be Haskins, then jumped into the passenger seat of the Lincoln while a second man drove away. Thornton was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

The alleged getaway driver, Terry Martin, 20, was arrested in Dyersburg October 9.
