Tennessee Fugitive Kirby Jean Wallace In Custody: Sheriff

Authorities in Montgomery County confirmed that Wallace, who is wanted on multiple charges, has been captured.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TN β€” Kirby Jean Wallace, the fugitive wanted by authorities on multiple charges including murder, is in custody. The Montgomery County Sheriff's office confirmed that Wallace, 53, was no longer on the run.

Wallace was placed on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's top 10 most wanted list as authorities searched for him over a week long period. A safety perimeter was established in Montgomery County, intersections were closed and residents were advised to stay alert. Earlier on Friday, authorities said the road closures had been lifted in Montgomery County and the search had moved to nearby Stewart County.

In Montgomery County, officials say an arrest warrant was issued last week for Wallace on especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary and theft of property. Those charges stem from a home invasion where officials say a woman in her 80s was going from church when she was forced into her home at knifepoint.

In Stewart County, Wallace is wanted on charges of first degree murder, felony murder, attempted murder, aggravated arson, two counts of aggravated kidnapping and two counts of especially aggravated robbery. Officials say he is also wanted on one count of especially aggravated burglary in connection to an incident in Indian Mound. According to WREG, officials say Wallace is also suspected of shooting and killing a man Monday morning and stealing his truck.
