Tennessee Manhunt: Fugitive Wanted On Murder, Kidnapping Charges

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says the man, Kirby Gene Wallace, 53, is wanted on multiple charges, including murder.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TN β€” A manhunt is underway in Tennessee for a fugitive wanted on multiple charges, including first degree murder and felony murder, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. In an update Tuesday morning, officials said law enforcement continued to search for the fugitive overnight.

The fugitive, identified by authorities as Kirby Gene Wallace, 53, remains on the run and is on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's top 10 most wanted list. In Montgomery County, officials say an arrest warrant was issued last week for Wallace on especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary and theft of property. Those charges stem from a home invasion where officials say a woman in her 80s was going from church when she was forced into her home at knifepoint.

According to sheriff's officials, Wallace displayed a loaded rifle inside the home and made numerous threats to harm the woman and others. Authorities allege that he disassembled the victim's phone to prevent her from calling for help and he is also accused of tying her to her bed and fleeing in her car.

In Stewart County, Wallace is wanted on charges of first degree murder, felony murder, attempted murder, aggravated arson, two counts of aggravated kidnapping and two counts of especially aggravated robbery. Officials say he is also wanted on one count of especially aggravated burglary in connection to an incident in Indian Mound. According to WREG, officials say Wallace is suspected of shooting and killing a man Monday morning and stealing his truck.

Wallace is described as a white male who is 5-foot-10 inches tall and weighs 157 pounds. He has gray hair, hazel eyes and possibly has facial hair.

Sheriff's officials say it is believed that he crashed his car and is now on foot. Officials have closed several intersections in the area where they are searching for Wallace.
