Can you just imagine your own child coming home from school and telling you that they are being bullied, in kindergarten? I was contacted this week by not one, but, by two different people sharing that their child had started school and already is being bullied. This just breaks my heart!
Do you know that teaching kindness isn't just about teaching kids to be nice, but to see the value in others and to stand up for what is right.
YOU are a Role Model for kindness at home. Children learn more from what they see than what they hear and they are mimicking these words and actions.
Have conversations about empathy, help them to imagine how others feel in different situations.

Put yourself in the other persons shoes, I did this often when I taught preschool. When, not if, but when a student came to me about another student bullying, I always asked them how it would make them feel if that were said to them, or if that was done to them? It made them think on it and it lessened the situations. Many times a child may not realize they are being unkind and we need to figure out how we can help them to understand this.
Have conversations, please. After all, we are building the foundation for the leaders of tomorrow and the role models for today.
