'Why Did I Have To Get So Drunk?': Missouri Man Grabs On To Ambulance On Lower Broad, Police Say

A Missouri man was arrested after drunkenly riding on the rear bumper of a Nashville ambulance, police say.

NASHVILLE, TN — There are a variety of ways to see the sights of the neon canyon of Lower Broadway. There's the traditional taxis and hansom cabs and the kitschy pedal taverns and their spin-offs.

A Missouri man enjoying the honky-tonks improvised his own sightseeing tour in the wee hours of Saturday morning, according to police.

Jason Boone, 27, of Blue Springs, Mo., was seen by two Metro Police officers "riding on the rear step of NFD Medic 9," according to an affidavit.

"The ambulance was travelling from 3rd Avenue South and turned west onto Broadway. As the ambulance turned onto Broadway, the defendant jumped off and ran in front of 301 Broadway, weaving through traffic," the arrest report continues.

Boone ran about 100 feet from Metro officers before lying down on the street.

"'Why did I have to get so drunk?'" Boone said, according to the affidavit.

Boone is charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and evading arrest. He posted $2,500 cash bond.
