  1. Cedar Park City Council's early voting begins April 24 to May 2. After the Feb. 17 deadline for filing, a total of four applications were received. Incumbents Anne Duffy and Kevin Harris are running unopposed for places 3 and 5. Bobbi Hutchinson and Justin O'Brien are running for place 1. Visit Community Impact Newspaper for more on this story.
  2. The Dallas Stars hockey team will hold its training camp at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park. This will be the team's second year here and "Dallas will face-off against the Arizona Coyotes in exhibition play Sunday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m." Hosting the Dallas Stars' training camp and first play is a great morale boost for the local hockey team, Texas Stars, in its 15th anniversary season!   3. Two new candidates are running for Place 1 in Cedar Park's city council elections. Bobbi Hutchinson has a Master of Public Affairs from University of Texas, has previous work with the Department of Defense, is chair of the board of Cedar Park Planning and Zoning, and believes in putting forth developments that match what citizens have expressed they'd like. Justin O'Brien is senior sales executive for Vine Financial, wants to see council approve small business eateries, choosing employers who will hire a large number of people, and avoiding non-family-friendly businesses.
