CONROE, TX - There is plenty to do and something for everyone in Conroe, which makes it important to stay connected to area happenings, whether through your local Patch or this list of five Facebook pages that Patch readers in the Conroe area are invited to follow:
- Visit Conroe: Whether visiting the Lone Star monument and historical flag, decompressing on Lake Conroe, attending a musical performance at one of Conroe's intimate venues or checking out championship bull-riding at the Lone Star Expo Center, Conroe offers a unique experience to residents and visitors alike. Conroe Convention & Visitors Bureau's mission is to generate economic activity in the Greater Conroe area by promoting it as a premier visitor destination, and there is no shortage of activities for interests of all types and individuals of all ages.
- Conroe Art League: The Conroe Art League, partially funded by the Conroe Commission on the Arts and Culture, showcases a different exhibit every month in its gallery. Artist membership is an annual $35, includes the ability to display one's art work at $10 per piece. A non-profit, the gallery maintains a staff exclusively comprising volunteers and hosted programs have included—but are never limited to—painting workshops, marbling classes and figure drawing groups.

- The Salvation Army Conroe: The Salvation Army of Conroe is the only emergency shelter in Montgomery County for men and single men, and social services are available for all. It also offers a transitional housing program, daily lunch at 11 a.m. and celebrates recovery through a character-building program that is open to all ages. Conroe's Salvation Army further extends its commitment to area communities with weekly, Sunday-morning worship.
- Conroe Family YMCA: There is always something happening at the Conroe Family YMCA, part of the YMCA of Greater Houston and open every day of the week. A monthly Parents Night Out event is held every third Saturday from 6-10 p.m., and families are invited to First Monday Game Night, held on the first Monday of every month from 1-3 p.m., where dominoes, cards and UNO play are abound.

- Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce: What began as a membership of three businesses in the Conroe-Lake Conroe area in 1934 has since expanded to more than 1,100 members who are dedicated to improving the economic quality of life in Montgomery County. Past Chamber-hosted events have included the Real Men of Montgomery County Style Show, local candidate forums, annual job fairs, lobster festivals, speaker series and holiday fireworks—to name a few. The Chamber's next, big event, the Chairman's Ball, will be held Jan. 21 of 2017.
