Alcohol Sales In Willis Up For Discussion: The Agenda In MoCo
A potential ordinance regarding the sale and licensing of alcohol in Willis will get its first reading at Tuesday's City Council meeting.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — The Willis City Council will discuss a potential ordinance regulating the sale and licensing of alcoholic beverages in the city at its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.
The ordinance will have its first reading at the meeting so it won’t be under consideration for a vote until a future meeting.
Ordinances the City Council could take action on this week include a couple zoning ordinances and one regarding the placement of signs in the city and extra-territorial jurisdiction.

In new business, the council will consider the approval of a variance request on sign height for the future H-E-B and shopping center on Interstate 45. The council also is likely to swear in a new city municipal court judge and will consider appointments for vacancies on the Community Development Corporation Board and Planning and Zoning Commission.

Tuesday
The Conroe Independent School District Board of Trustees will receive a couple important updates at its Tuesday meeting, which will be held at 6 p.m. at the CISD Administration Building. The board will hear an update on the safe return to in-person instruction and continuity of services plan as well as school district results in STAAR testing and EOC exams. Wednesday
The Montgomery City Council will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. at City Hall and will consider and possibly adopt a resolution setting the City of Montgomery tax exemptions for 2021. It is the only item on the agenda.
Thursday
As part of its usual two-part workshop and meeting starting Wednesday and re-convening Thursday morning, the Conroe City Council will discuss and consider the 2021-22 fiscal year operating budget as well as the Capital Improvement Program budget. The council also will consider adopting policies regarding Conroe’s participation in federally funded community development block grant programs. For the complete budget, click here.
The Woodlands Township Board of Directors will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. and will consider a proposal allowing the use of e-bikes on the township’s pathway system. The proposal, which was tabled at the June meeting, would involve removing “No Motorized Vehicle” stencils for a cost of just over $300,000 and adding signs outlining rules and uses of the pathways for a cost of $40,000. If enacted, the township would save roughly $21,000 per year in maintenance of the stencils. The Board also will hear updates and take possible action regarding Incorporation Planning Study matters.
