Ex-Conroe Priest Removed From Ministry For Sexual Misconduct

Father Jesus Suarez, who formerly taught at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conroe, has been removed by the Archdiocese, officials said.

HOUSTON — A second Catholic priest with ties to Sacred heart Catholic Church in Conroe has been removed from ministry, the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese announced Monday.

Father Jesus Suarez, who formerly taught at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conroe, was removed amid allegations that he abused young girls in Colombia, which may have resulted in the priest fathering children, according to the Archdiocese.

The incidents allegedly happened in the early 1990s, before Suarez came to the United States.

Officials with the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese sent letters to each of the church's where Suarez has previously served. Most recently, Fr. Suarez was serving as Pastor of St. Philip of Jesus Parish in Houston.

The latest allegations come just a few short months after law enforcement officials seized records at the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese, which came as the result of criminal charges being filed against Father Manuel La Rosa-Lopez in September 2018.
