Biles Bows Out As Team USA Takes Silver In Team Final
Spring native Simone Biles withdrew from the competition after one event, and the Russian Olympic Committee claimed the gold medal.

TOKYO — After one vault in the women's gymnastics team final, Team USA superstar Simone Biles bowed out of the competition, and the Americans went on to finish second to the Russian Olympic Committee by nearly 3.5 points Tuesday at the Tokyo Olympics.
After her vault, the Spring native said she knew she wasn't in the mindset to compete at a high level.
"I didn’t want to go into any of the other events second-guessing myself," Biles told the Associated Press. "So I thought it would be better if I took a step back and let these girls go out there and do their job."

It wasn't clear Tuesday if Biles would participate in the individual competitions. She qualified for all four individual event finals as well as the all-around final during Sunday's qualifying.
