Boy, 12, Charged In Brother's Murder To Undergo Psych Evaluation

A 12-year-old boy accused of killing his younger brother can't be charged as an adult and will undergo a psych evaluation, officials said.

CONROE, TX -- A 12-year-old Conroe boy accused of shooting his 10-year-old brother to death on Saturday won’t be charged as an adult, because of his age, officials said.

The 12-year-old juvenile, whose identity has not been release, will undergo a mental health evaluation at the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center.

Deputies were called to a home in the 10700 block of Stidhman Road, at about 2:40 p.m. for a shooting. When deputies arrived, they found the boy with a gunshot wound in his chest, and immediately started CPR until paramedics arrived at the home.

The boy was rushed to HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies detained the boy’s older brother and took him into custody. Investigators are trying to determine how the boy was able to get access to a weapon.
