Cleveland Man Found Asleep At The Wheel Charged With DWI
Omar Gomez, 49, was found asleep behind the wheel of his car and was charged with driving while intoxicated.
SPLENDORA, TX -- A Cleveland man found asleep behind the wheel of his car was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. The incident was reported near the intersection of Business 59 and FM 209o shortly after midnight Thursday.
According to police, a Splendora police officer was taking a prisoner to the city jail when he saw a car in the roadway. Police said the officer stopped and went to check on the car and found the driver, identified as 49-ydear-old Omar Gomez, asleep behind the wheel.
The officer said Gomez's car was running and in drive, and his foot was on the brake pedal. Police said Gomez also had an open container of beer in the car.

The officer woke Gomez and arrested him for DWI, and for an outstanding warrant for failing to appear. Gomez was taken to the Montgomery County Jail where his bond was set at $600.
