Angel Reach receives grant from Texas Bar Foundation
We are excited to announce that Angel Reach, a non-profit located in Conroe has been awarded funding from the Texas Bar Foundation to support Angel Reach's "Education for All" Learning intervention Program. The Learning Intervention program is a component of the Angel Reach Foster Success initiative, offered to youth 16-24 who have aged out of the Foster care system. They are enrolled in Angel Reach's Transitional Living Program which helps them become emotionally stable and financially independent. The "Education for All" grant will assist these young people with overcoming the learning roadblocks that they encounter when they were young but did not get the help they needed.
The Texas Bar Foundation has teamed up with Angel Reach to support the Learning Intervention pilot program as part of its Foster Success initiative for former foster care youth aged 18-24 in Montgomery County, Texas. Although these young people are no longer minors at the law, they often lack a viable support system or network, and Angel Reach offers this support for participants to a maximum of the age of 24. Most youths bear emotional scars which many times affect their ability to learn. The mission of the "Education for All" (Learning Intervention program) is to guide the young people in overcoming their learning struggles, giving them confidence and empowering them with the tools to learn in today's educational environments. The longer-term goal is to break the generational cycle of abuse and neglect, which quite often leads to traumatic experiences that trickle down and hinder their ability to advance in education.
When asked about the importance of the success of this program Executive Director of Angel Reach, Jean Radach, stated "90% of the young people who enter our programs arrive with learning difficulties. This program provides hope to these young people and they will now be able to experience a source of satisfaction and self-esteem that enables them to perform in areas of their intelligence and strengths. The relief and happiness they experience warms all of our hearts."
Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $23 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation's largest charitably-funded bar foundation.
