Conroe Man Shot By Wife's Boyfriend In Pickup Truck Dispute

CONROE, TX — A Conroe man accused of shooting his girlfriend's estranged husband during an argument is being held in the Montgomery County Jail. Austin Kyle Lyon, 25, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies were called to a home in the 1300 block of Briar Cliff Street in Conroe for a shooting on March 31.

When deputies arrived at the home, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in his leg. He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands in stable condition, and is expected to recover.

Detectives learned that the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the girlfriend and her estranged husband over ownership of a pickup truck. During an argument between the two, Lyon allegedly went to his vehicle where he retrieved a handgun and shot the victim once in the leg.

Deputies stopped Lyon as he was leaving the area of Forest Lane and Main Street on foot in the Tamina community.

Investigators also found his car hidden on a nearby property, where they also found the weapon used in the shooting.

Lyon was taken to jail and his bond was set at $50,000.
