Conroe Man Gets Life In Prison For Severely Abusing Two Children
A Montgomery County jury sentenced Adam Lee Thomas to 2 life terms for severely burning and beating two young children, officials said.

CONROE, TX — A Conroe man who brutally abused two young children in his care and forced his girlfriend to lie to police, received two life sentences from a Montgomery County jury. Adam Lee Thomas was charged with abusing his two young children, ages 2 and 3-years-old, in September 2017 after he and his girlfriend took them to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston for treatment.
According to a press release from the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, doctor's at Texas Children's Hospital examined the children, and found the 2-year-old had suffered severe head trauma, had suffered fractures to his foot, arms and ribs, had a laceration to his liver, had suffered burns and other injuries.
The 3-year-old child suffered severe abdominal trauma that required surgery, and also had rib fractures, a fractured collarbone and numerous other injuries, according to the press release.

Doctor's contacted police who learned the children were under the care of Thomas and his girlfriend, Denise Watson.
During the trial, jurors learned that Thomas sent text messages to Watson and directed her to lie about the injuries to doctors. Jurors also saw other documents from Thomas that implicated him in the crime, officials said.

Prosecutors presented evidence that convinced jurors that the children would suffer permanent mental and physical disabilities as a result of the abuse.
Watson, who cooperated and testified against Thomas, was sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison.
