Conroe Man Sentenced To Federal Prison For Narcotics Trafficking

Perry Clark was arrested in Sarita on Jan. 9 with 15 kilos of cocaine in his vehicle he was suppose to take to Houston , prosecutors said.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – A 35-year-old Conroe man was sentenced to federal prison for his role in a cocaine trafficking scheme in south Texas. Perry Clark pleaded guilty in February to narcotics trafficking and was sentenced to 40 months in federal prison, and 24 months of a supervised release after his release from prison, prosecutors said Thursday.

Clark was arrested on Jan. 9, at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint in Sarita after a K9 officer alerted to the presence of narcotics in his car. Border Patrol agents searched Clark's car and recovered 14 bundles containing approximately 15 kilograms of cocaine.

Clark admitted to agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration that he knew he was transporting narcotics, that he had done so on numerous other occasions and that he was to be paid $5,000 for delivering the cocaine to Houston.

In handing down the sentence, the court mentioned Clark’s complete lack of criminal history, but noted the significant quantity of cocaine in this case. Clark will remain in custody pending transfer to a federal prison facility to be determined in the near future.
