Conroe Woman Sentenced To 15-Years For Intoxication Manslaughter
Vanessa Vanatten pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter on May 30, and was sentenced to 15-years in prison.

CONROE, TX — A Conroe woman was sentenced to 15-years in prison after she pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter. Vanessa Vanatten entered her guilty plea on May 30 for causing the death of Diana Chain on Oct. 25, 2018.
According to court documents, Chain was walking on the side of South Frazier Street with her adult nephew at about 10 p.m.when Vanatten hit and killed Chain, and nearly hit her nephew.
Vanatten, who was on her way home from a bar, realized she hit someone and pulled over, according to a press release the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

Chain’s nephew ran to a local motel to call 911, and by the time help arrived, Chain was dead. Vanatten told police when they arrived that she’d hit Chain with her car.
Police obtained a search warrant for a blood draw and determined that Vanatten was driving at more than twice the legal limit. Investigators later determined that Vanatten was speeding and driving recklessly, according to the press release.

Vanatten will have to serve at least half her sentence before she is eligible for parole
