COVID-19 Measures On Table For Commissioners: The Agenda In MoCo

The Montgomery County Commissioners will discuss ways to mitigate the public health risk of the new wave of the pandemic on Tuesday.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — The Montgomery County Commissioners Court has COVID-19 on the agenda again.

At their regular meeting at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Alan B. Sadler Building, the commissioners will consider and possibly take action, including immediate action, because of the imminent threat to public health and safety posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the posted agenda.

A more specific item spells out a possible action the court could take in the form of using American Rescue Plan Act Funds amounting to no more than $150,000 to purchase medical supplies and personal protective equipment for the county.

Also on the agenda for the Commissioners Court is the upcoming Nov. 2 election. The court will consider and possibly approve an order changing the main early voting location as well as the Order of Election for the Nov. 2 Constitutional Election.

In closed session, commissioners will meet with an attorney to discuss the impacts of a possible incorporation of The Woodlands on Montgomery County. The Woodlands Township Board of Directors resumed discussions on The Woodlands Township Incorporation Study this summer.

Tuesday
At its 6 p.m. meeting at City Hall, the Montgomery City Council will receive a presentation from Jones & Carter, Inc. outlining a study the engineering firm performed on FM 1097 as well as the traffic signal at the intersection of FM 1097 and Buffalo Springs Drive. The City Council could take action on the results of the study. In the consent agenda, the council is expected to set a public hearing on the fiscal year 2021-22 operating budget. The Magnolia City Council will consider and possibly adopt a resolution designating a project delivery service provider to complete project implementation for funds from the American Rescue Plan Act during its regular meeting at 7 p.m. at City Hall. In its workshop, which begins at 6 p.m., the City Council is expected to discuss both the fiscal year 2021-22 budget as well as the tax rate. Here is the full agenda.

Wednesday
In its 5:30 p.m. regular meeting at the Sharon Hill Jennette Administration Building, the Willis City Council will hold a public meeting to present and hear comments on the proposed 2021-22 budget and tax rate. The council is expected to adopt resolutions to approve a budget and tax rate for fiscal year 2021-22 later in its regular meeting. Click here for the agenda.

The Shenandoah City Council will discuss and possibly take action regarding the city’s 2021-22 tax rate during its regular meeting at 7 p.m. at the City of Shenandoah Municipal Complex. This year, the no-new-revenue tax rate ($0.1737 per $100) is below the current tax rate ($0.1799/$100). The voter approval tax rate is $0.3440/$100. Here is the agenda.

Thursday
The Conroe City Council will propose a tax rate of $0.4375 per $100 and set a public hearing for the fiscal year 2021-22 tax rate during its action agenda meeting, which will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday at City Hall. The council also will submit the no-new-revenue and the voter approval tax rates. During its Wednesday workshop, the City Council will discuss several items of pending claims and litigation, including Douglas and Pamela Petersen vs. Montgomery County/City of Conroe.
