Driver Hits Horse On Sam Houston Trail Ride From Tomball
The driver of a Hummer didn't give a horse enough space, and slightly injured the horse, trail riders said Thursday.

TOMBALL, TX — The Sam Houston Trail Riders have traveled through Tomball and camped in Spring Creek Park for years before heading to Houston to kick off the live stock show and rodeo. Often, the ride is an uneventful and pleasant trip into Houston.
However, this trip from Spring Creek was hardly without drama after the driver of a Hummer hit the back of one of the horses, slightly injuring the horse.
The incident happened at about 11 a.m. along the southbound route of State High 249, near the Grand Parkway.

Officials said the driver of the Hummer ignored the instructions of another rider to leave a lane open between the horses and the traffic, and hit the back of one of the horses with the passenger side headlight.
The impact caused a scrape to the rear end of the horse, and he was able to continue with the journey after an evaluation by a veterinarian. No word on if the Hummer was damaged.
