Feds Charge Honduran Sex Offender With Being In US Illegally
Marvin Mejia Ramos was charged with illegally re-entering the US following an aggravated felony conviction and deportation in 2013.

HOUSTON – A 50-year-old Honduran national has been charged in federal court for illegally re-entering the U.S. after having been convicted and deported for multiple sex offenses in California, federal officials said.
Marvin Mejia Ramos, who is also known by numerous aliases, was charged with illegally re-entering the United States following an aggravated felony conviction and subsequent deportation.
Ramos was arrested Jan. 30 by deputies with the Precinct 4 Montgomery County Constables Office after a traffic stop in New Caney.

He was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and was subsequently charged with illegal re-entry after deportation.
According to court records, in 2007, Ramos was convicted in California for continuous sexual abuse and lewd act upon a child.

He was sentenced to six years imprisonment for those offenses and was deported in 2013, according to the complaint.

As such, he is not permitted to return to the United States.
At a hearing in federal court on Feb. 6, Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA) Adam Laurence Goldman argued Mejia Ramos is both a flight risk and danger to the community.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Dena Hanovice Palermo then ordered Mejia Ramos into custody pending further criminal proceedings. If convicted, Mejia Ramos faces up to 20 years in federal prison.
