Lightning Sparks House Fire In Porter

Overnight storms are believed to have produced a lightning strike that caused a home to go up in flames on Thursday night.

PORTER, TX — Lightning from severe storms Thursday night are believed to have sparked a house fire in Porter. Firefighters were called to a home in 25600 block of Tiverton Forest in the Oakhurst Subdivision at about 11 p.m. for a fire alarm.

Firefighters immediately noticed flames coming from the roof of the two-story home, and called for additional units. Officials said firefighters spent close nearly a hour trying to contain the blaze to the attic, before it was finally extinguished.

Officials said no one was injured as a result of the fire. The incident remains under investigation.
