Lone Star College-Montgomery Professor Invited to The White House
Dr. Tarcia Hubert an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Lone Star College has excelled at minimizing the equity gap in STEM fields.
A Lone Star College-Montgomery faculty member has been invited to the White House for her outstanding impact on students and helping reduce the equity gap in STEM education. Dr. Tarcia Hubert, associate professor of Mathematics at LSC-Montgomery, will be part of a conference focused on inclusive STEM education for youth of color, given her leadership in this field.
The conference will take place Friday, October 28 and was initiated by President Obama’s desire to close the opportunity gaps in STEM education for young women and men of color.
Dr. Hubert founded Making Awesome Things Happen (M.A.T.H.), a community based, not for profit, 501(c)(3), volunteer organization, dedicated to developing mathematical proficiency in economically disadvantaged students. The organization helps traditionally underrepresented students become proficient and confident in mathematics, be successful in academics and life, and increase the number of minorities in STEM related fields.
