Montgomery School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Montgomery is August 22. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Montgomery Independent School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 8/10 - 8/21: Staff Development/Workday
• 8/22: First Day of School

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/9: No School for Students (Staff Development/Workday)

November

• 11/20 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/19 - 12/21: Secondary Final Exams
• 12/20: Early Release Day (Secondary 11:30 a.m., Elementary 1:00 p.m.)
• 12/21: Early Release Day (Secondary 11:30 a.m., Elementary 1:00 p.m.)
• 12/22 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/8: No School for Students (Staff Development/Workday)
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King Day)

March

• 3/12 - 3/16: No School (Spring Break)
• 3/30: No School (Good Friday)

May

• 5/23 - 5/25: Secondary Final Exams
• 5/24: Early Release Day (Secondary 11:30 a.m., Elementary 1:00 p.m.)
