PORTER, TX — A mother from Porter is suing Peloton Interactive, Inc. after her two-year-old son was pulled underneath a treadmill in an incident that occurred April 14.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court Texas Southern District on Thursday, states that two-year-old "S.J." was pulled underneath the family's Peloton Tread+, which had "turned on without warning." The suit states S.J. was trapped underneath the treadmill until his mother, Leanne Williams, and grandparents were able to lift the treadmill and get him out.

Williams is seeking $1 million in monetary relief, and the lawsuit accuses Peloton of negligence in the design, manufacture and marketing of the Tread+. S.J. suffered "permanently disfiguring injuries to his head and face," according to a news release from Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner, one of the law firms representing Williams.
