Tax Postcard Not A Scam: Montgomery County Tax Officials

The Montgomery County Tax Office is mailing postcards to notify residents about the Tax Transparency Database.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — The Montgomery County Tax Office is telling residents that a tax-related postcard they will receive in the mail is not a scam.

The postcard, which is required by law to be sent to residents, notifies taxpayers of the Tax Transparency Database, according to a news release.

The database will list all jurisdictions associated with the taxpayers account, along with the following rates for each:

  • No-New-Revenue Rate
  • Voter-Approval Rate
  • Proposed Rate
  • Adopted Rate

The database also will provide market and taxable values as well as an estimate for taxes imposed by each jurisdiction.

A public hearing notice will be posted along with the tax forms used to calculate the estimates. Taxpayers can provide feedback to the governing body of each tax jurisdiction through the database.

The no-new-revenue and voter-approved rates will be posted in the database no later than Aug. 7, and the proposed rate and public meeting dates will be posted when they become available. The Tax Transparency Database can be accessed here.
