Thoroughfare Plan Up For Approval: The Agenda In MoCo
The Montgomery County Major Thoroughfare Plan will be presented to the Commissioners Court for approval as part of a busy agenda.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — The Montgomery County Commissioner’s Court is set to approve the Montgomery County Major Thoroughfare Plan as well as funding to help combat crime the court says is a result of the border crisis at its regular meeting Tuesday.
The meeting, which begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Alan B. Sadler Administration Building in Conroe, can be viewed online at the Commissioners Court website.
Brown and Gay Engineers, the engineering firm hired by the commissioners to update the 2016 Montgomery County Major Thoroughfare Plan, will give a presentation on the plan at the meeting. The plan was open for public comment in late May and early June.

After receiving the plan, Montgomery County Commissioners will discuss and likely approve it.

The court also will discuss and possibly approve funding not to exceed $200,000 each for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, District Attorney and the constables from all five county precincts to help address human trafficking, enforcement of driving while intoxicated and other issues related to a rise in crime it attributes to U.S.-Mexico border insecurity. If approved, the funding must be used within one calendar year and can be used for overtime associated benefits and other expenses.
The commissioners also will enter closed session and discuss, among other items, potential litigation related to employee matters and legal issues regarding American Rescue Plan funds. Here is the full agenda.

Tuesday
The Montgomery City Council will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. at Montgomery City Hall. The meeting can be viewed live on YouTube. The council will discuss and take action on several proposed ordinances to lower the speed limit to 45 mph on a section of Highway 105 under construction. The scheduled meeting of the Magnolia City Council was canceled because of a lack of quorum.
Wednesday
The Willis Independent School District Board of Trustees will hold a public meeting concerning federal grant applications as well as its regular meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Sharon Hill Jennette Administration Building. The board will hold a presentation and public comments on 2021-22 federal grant applications before opening the regular meeting. Board members will enter closed session to discuss teacher resignations and employee appointments, the purchase of approximately 31 acres of land in the William Weir Survey and an amendment to Superintendent Tim Harkrider’s contract. The Shenandoah City Council will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the City of Shenandoah Municipal Complex. The council will discuss and possibly approve ordinances related to regulating outdoor sales and signage at major hospitals and also will consider a nomination to the Montgomery County Emergency Communication District Board of Managers. Thursday
The Conroe City Council will convene a council retreat at 8 a.m. Thursday in the Emergency Operations Center in Conroe City Hall to go over the proposed 2021-22 operating budget. The City Council will set a public hearing on the budget and present an overview of the budget as well as road and capital improvement program projects. Here is the full agenda.
The Willis City Council will have its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. at Willis City Hall. The council will discuss and take possible action on a park concept plan for the Lindley Park Improvements as well as the Willis Community Development Plan and budget.
