The first-ever job fair was launched as a result of the 2019-2020 TEDC strategic work plan as an initiative to address the workforce needs of local businesses.

"The TEDC is committed to connecting local business with the ready, capable workforce that exists in Tomball," said Executive Director, Kelly Violette. "By partnering with Tomball ISD, we are connecting our local businesses with the next wave of talent entering the workforce. I think everyone was impressed with what they discovered."

The job fair targeted 10-12th graders who were eligible to be hired for full and part-time opportunities. The students voluntarily visited job booths during their lunch break to explore employment opportunities.

"The feedback from the students was great," offered Tomball High School’s college and career counselor, Emily Nichols. "Students were visiting me the next day to follow up, including those who missed it and wanted to know more about the job and career opportunities."

Positive feedback from participating companies and students has led TEDC organizers to declare the job fair a success and plans are in the works to expand the job fair in the future.
