Willis Drops Code Red for Smart911

Wilis is dropping Code Red emergency alerts for Smart911

WILLIS, TX — Come Fiscal Year 2018, Code Red will no longer be providing residents of Willis with emergency alerts. The city was paying the company to provide emergency alerts via voice, text and email.

The city will switch to Smart911, a free service that provides the same information as Code Red and allows registered users' name and home address to be immediately sent to a 911 operator.

About 28,000 Willis residents have signed up for Code Red, the city plans to spend the next few months migrating them to Smart911.
