The Woodlands' Falterman Named All-American, Golden Shoe Winner

Senior Kayla Falterman was a first-team pick on the NFCA All-America Team, and her base-stealing prowess earned her a national award.

THE WOODLANDS, TX — The Woodlands senior second baseman Kayla Falterman was named a first-team selection on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Team and earned the NFCA New Balance Golden Shoe Award, the organization announced Friday.

Falterman was a perfect 50-for-50 on stolen base attempts this season, earning her the award given out for base-stealing prowess.

The NFCA made the announcement on Twitter and made a video of all the first-team selections.

Falterman and teammate Alannah Leach previously were named to the NFCA South Central All-Region Team.

In addition to her contributions on the basepaths, Falterman was dangerous at the plate. The Louisiana-Lafayette signee hit .515 with seven triples and 67 runs scored while knocking in 35 runs to wrap up her high school career.

In her last season before joining the Ragin’ Cajuns, Falterman helped the Highlanders reach the Class 6A Region II semifinals. The Woodlands fell to Bryan in a best-of-3 series, winning the first game 15-5 before dropping the last two by one run apiece. The Highlanders swept Spring Dekaney, Klein and Cypress Woods in the first three rounds of the playoffs.

Falterman was one of seven Texas players to earn All-America recognition from NFCA:
