Here are the top three stories in Corpus Christi today:
- The brand new Corpus Christi West Point VA Clinic in the Coastal Bend is more than halfway towards being fully open. According to Dr. Jennifer Wood, Chief of Staff for the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Healthcare System, the new clinic will have the proper space and technology to help serve more veterans and improve access to healthcare for them. Overall, it will feature 14 primary care teams, a homeless program, radiology suite, women’s health services, and so much more. (KIIITV)
- According to Environment Texas, nearly 55 beaches throughout the state were deemed potentially unsafe for swimming at least once while being tested. The “Safe for Swimming” analysis by Environment Texas looked to see if fecal bacteria levels exceeded the regulations set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. As of last year, eight beaches in Texas surpassed the safety benchmark, including Cole Park Beach and Corpus Christi Marina. (Spectrum Local News)
- Earlier last week, a man from Corpus Christi found his car crushed by part of a tree that allegedly fell onto his car during an overnight rainstorm. The large tree hit local resident Robert Pullen’s vehicle located on Coleman Avenue and ended up smashing his entire back window, as well as various other parts of the car. According to Pullen, the city is responsible for the incident and he plans on filing a claim against them. (KIIITV)
