8 Rescued After Six Flags Over Texas Ride Gets Stuck Overnight
The park said that its newest ride, "The Joker" was stopped after severe headwinds triggered a safety stoppage.

ARLINGTON, TX — Eight people were rescued from a rollercoaster at Six Flags Over Texas after they became stuck on the ride, known as The Joker, early Saturday morning.
The Fort-Worth Star Telegram reports that the Arlington Fire Department received a call at about 12:30 a.m. The eight young people stuck on the ride were all rescued by 3:40 a.m. At the time of the rescue, a thunderstorm was moving through the area, however Deputy Fire Chief Mike French told the paper that the weather was not going to distract firefighters from the mission.
No injuries were reported, the fire department said.

The Joker, a new addition for the park in 2017, was officially set to open to the public on Saturday. In a tweet, the park said the ride would open following a full inspection.
According to the park, severe headwinds triggered a safety stoppage overnight, leading to patrons getting stuck on the ride.
