Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:
- Dallas recently acquired apartments in North Dallas to turn into affordable housing in an effort to respond to rising rental costs. Half of the units will be converted to affordable housing that will be available to those who make less than 80 percent of Dallas' median income. (Subscription: The Dallas Morning News)
- Community members in Dallas participated in the annual Adopt-A-Grandparent holiday event. The event encourages members of the community to sponsor one of the 50 grandparents who signed up this year for the event. Sponsors then donate gifts from the grandparents' holiday wish lists. Eligible grandparents are those who are raising grandchildren. (WFAA.com)
- Dallas officials plan to expand the city's initiative to provide free period products at public facilities. The initiative, called Period Access Dallas, will use funding from the American Rescue Plan Act, which aims to boost public health initiatives. (Community Impact Newspaper)
