Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:

  1. Dallas has launched Dallas Secure, a free app to send users real-time updates about data threats as well as information on how to move forward. Genesis Gavin, the city's chief of staff, said, "This app will help inform our residents about cybersecurity in a way that makes it easy to understand, which will empower them to take steps to protect their digital privacy." Dallas Secure is a joint project between Texas Health and Human Services and UT Southwestern Medical Center. (FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth)
  2. Construction has begun on the new state hospital coming to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The facility, expected to open in 2025, aims to address the lack of mental healthcare access in the state. Facilities will include 200 beds for adults, space for inmates who cannot stand trial, and a 96-bed pediatric wing. (FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth)
  3. Starting next year, the Greater Texas Foundation will provide 40 $4,000 scholarships to early college high school students with the University of North Texas at Dallas. The scholarship aims to support students in completing their bachelor's degree through the program. The Commit Partnership, a Texas-based education nonprofit, says 17 percent of Dallas County graduates obtained bachelor’s degrees by 2019. (KERA News)
