Dallas - According to a report by Dallas Metro News, Dallas police have arrested three suspects involved in the August 9th shooting and carjacking of seasoned Dallas officer Nathaniel Chapman.

Chapman, a long-standing member of the Dallas Police Department since 1999, was caught in a dangerous shootout. The incident occurred while he was in an unmarked Dodge Challenger, participating in a covert surveillance mission at the intersection of Northwest Highway and Harry Hines Boulevard.

Security camera footage captured the tense moments when the suspects approached Officer Chapman's car and engaged in a brief but intense gunfight. Chapman was injured with a bullet wound to his left calf. One of the suspects took control of Chapman's unmarked vehicle but abandoned it three blocks away near a motel.

Crucial to the subsequent investigation was a cell phone left at the scene. Hidden inside the phone's case was a Louisiana Instructional Permit belonging to 19-year-old Redricous Lewis. After a digital forensic analysis, Dallas police successfully linked the abandoned cell phone to an Instagram account with the username "wb.meachiey."

Additional evidence came to light when Dallas investigators reviewed security footage from the motel where the officer's vehicle was found. The footage clearly showed one of the suspects wearing a red letterman jacket with a large "C" on the upper left chest. This jacket matched one seen on the Instagram account linked to 19-year-old Redricous Lewis, as stated in the arrest affidavit.

Following these discoveries, Shreveport police conducted targeted surveillance of locations Lewis was known to visit. This led to the coordinated arrest of Lewis along with two other suspects—17-year-old Redtravion Polk and 18-year-old Xavier Cook—on a mix of drug and weapon-related charges.

Dallas police detectives then traveled to Shreveport, where, according to the affidavit, both Lewis and Cook admitted to their roles in the crime. They identified Polk as the person who shot at Officer Chapman with a Glock pistol and subsequently stole the officer's car. Cook also confessed to firing one rifle shot at Chapman.

All three suspects are facing charges of aggravated robbery in connection to the incident, and more charges are expected to be added. Cook has been transferred to Dallas County Jail with bail set at $500,000, while Lewis and Polk remain in custody in Shreveport.
