- The Dallas County jail surpassed 88 percent capacity this year and is in danger of the state intervening and an overcrowded jail situation. Of the 5,887 total inmates in the jail as of Dec. 22, 872 have not had felonies filed yet. State law requires 90 days for prosecutors to prepare for indictment or the person in jail will be released on a reduced bail or a personal recognizance bond. (Subscription: Longview News-Journal)
- DART and Coors Light are teaming up to keep those celebrating New Year's Eve in the Dallas area safe. From 6:oo p.m. on New Year's Eve until the end of service, rides on DART buses, trains, and street cars will be free. Riders can hop on and take the free ride, no special passes required. (FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth)
- Dallas' Kate Weiser Chocolate was ranked No. 14 on Attractions of America's "Best Chocolate Shops in the USA." The Trinity Groves shop offers paint-splattered bonbons according to the colors of the flavors they house. (CW33 Dallas)
