  1. Parts of Dallas County have seen a decrease in emergency department visits for pediatric asthma due to efforts of a preventative texting program for parents. Data shows 36 percent fewer visits were made from June 2020 to May 2022 for asthma in children whose parents were receiving preventative text messages over those who were not. Parkland Health hopes a new partnership with Dallas Independent School District will help more parents enroll in the program. (KERA News)
  2. Southwest Airlines plans to resume normal operations today. The announcement from the airlines comes after mass cancelations, and delays across the board after severe winter weather coupled with systems for managing schedules/crews had issues. An estimated 2,451 flights were canceled yesterday – a majority of which were from Southwest Airlines. The airline says their operations today should have minimal disruptions. (Dallas Patch)
  3. Preparations have begun for the massive fireworks show in Dallas this weekend. The annual Dallas Reunion Tower Over the Top NYE fireworks show will illuminate the Dallas skyline to ring in the New Year. There will be 15,000 pounds of fireworks this year – 5,000 more than brought in the 2022 New Year. This will be the largest show to date. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
