Here are the top four stories today in Dallas:

  1. Severe storms and at least one reported tornado Tuesday damaged the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area. According to the National Weather Service, severe winds damaged homes, trees, businesses, and more. At least seven people were also reported injured as a result of the storms. (CNN)
  2. The Dallas City Council will consider a new master plan to transform Hensley Field, a former naval air station next to Mountain Creek Lake, into affordable housing. Over a period of 20 years, the project would create a mixed-use, mixed-income lakefront development with more than 6,800 homes on the 738-acre site. (The Dallas Morning News)
  3. To avoid paying a $108,750 penalty for violating Texas emergency medical services rules, Dallas Fire-Rescue has agreed to random state inspections and other conditions. The Nov. 17 settlement between the city and the Department of State Health Services is the result of investigations that found at least six Dallas Fire-Rescue employees violated state EMS rules.   4. On Dec. 12, police gave an update about the impact of fentanyl in Dallas. The department's special investigations division found that more than 60 accidental deaths involving controlled substances had been linked to fentanyl in the last year. Dallas Police Major Devon Palk said the majority of fentanyl in Dallas is laced with other drugs and sold as something else. (FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth)
