Dallas, TX. – (February 22nd, 2024) – There is barely a week left in February. That means that Spring, and coincidently spring cleaning is right around the corner.

If you weren’t able to declutter and start off the new year with a clean sweep, Spring is the best time to make things brighter. Locally, Home Clean Heroes of McKinney and East DFW devised a 30-day declutter challenge to help folks start 2024 on a good foot. However, if you’ve got your eyes on a spring clean feeling, it works just as well.

To start, co-owner Jason Doolittle notes that it’s easy for messes and clutter to build in areas that are out of sight and out of mind. “Any place in your home that you don't go into frequently or spend much time there are places where it's easy to neglect and hard to stay on top of,” Doolittle points out. “That could be a garage, an attic or basement, a spare bedroom, or a closet.”

He says that one key to keep these areas clean is finding a reason to use them. For example, after doing a deep clean, can you use a spare bedroom as a home office? Or a gym? Or is there a spot to store a fish tank? Whatever possibilities there are, finding use for spaces other than piling up junk is vital.

As with most undertakings, a critical part to success is to make a plan. “If a homeowner only deep-cleans their home once or twice a year, then the sheer volume of ‘little things’ that need to be done can quickly become overwhelming,” Doolittle says. He advises that it may be easier to clean room by room. However, not everyone cleans the same way, and that’s okay. “Come up with a plan and try it out. If it didn't work quite the way you thought it would, take what did work and modify the rest to fit your home and circumstances,” he added.
