Dallas – According to Dallas Metro News, the State Fair of Texas introduced a new policy for minors attending the event. Starting this year, juveniles aged 17 and under can only enter the fairgrounds after 5 p.m. if they are accompanied by a guardian or chaperone.

The policy change was announced on Tuesday and specifies that minors must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or chaperone who is at least 21 years old. Chaperones will be permitted to bring in a maximum of six minors at a time and will need to present a valid ID at the entrance gate.

Once inside the fairgrounds, the State Fair of Texas stated that guardians are not required to stay with the minors, although they are encouraged to maintain communication and be aware of the minors' whereabouts within Fair Park.

"Public safety is our top priority. We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming experience for all who attend our annual celebration of Texas," said Jaime Navarro, chief operating officer for the State Fair of Texas. "Comparable policies are being instated industry-wide, and the State Fair of Texas believes this policy is the best course of action to enhance the existing safety measures for all fairgoers, vendors, and employees."

Last summer, Dallas Police reported that a group of fairgoers attempted to cause disruption by running through the fairgrounds, which led to allegations of a shooting incident. However, after a thorough investigation, police confirmed that these claims were unfounded.
