Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:

  1. Four teenagers were arrested after a Friday night shooting in Far East Dallas left one teen dead and another teenager injured. The shooting took place in the 9300 block of Beck Avenue. A 17-year-old male was found shot in the leg, but as officers began to investigate, another shooting was called in at East R.L. Thornton Freeway and East Grand Avenue, where a 19-year-old was found fatally shot. Two 17-year-olds and two 18-year-olds were arrested for the shootings. A fifth suspect remains at large as of Monday. (The Dallas Morning News)
  2. East Dallas neighborhood Dolphin Heights is celebrating the grand opening of the new garden cottage in its community garden. The beloved garden was tended since its opening in 20o5 by Wille Hill until he passed away in 2019 at the age of 93. To honor his memory, a local nonprofit has built the cottage, which will house a new gardener. They will be responsible for tending the garden, organizing volunteers, and keeping the legacy of the garden alive. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
  3. The City of Dallas has been broadly advised by the City Plan Commission to prevent short-term rentals in single-family residential neighborhoods. The committee voted 9-4 on the issue. The decision could impact more than 2,000 residents throughout the city. Short-term rentals like Airbnb are not technically permitted in the city — they simply haven't been outlawed.
