Texas Man Forgets His Wallet at Longhorn Steakhouse. His Girl’s Card Declines, Then They Walk Out

'Run fast as hell or get ready to do dishes lol.'

A Texas man just posted a video bragging about “walking out” on a bill at Longhorn Steakhouse. At least, that’s what viewers are gathering after watching a clip from John (@john.poe2025), who claimed that his partner’s credit card declined, and they had no other form of payment. Instead of figuring out a way to pay the bill, John alleged that he “dipped.”

“We're just gonna have to walk the [expletive] outta here,” John said in the clip he posted on TikTok that amassed 18,600 views. “What do we do? What do we do? We just walk right the [expletive] out.”

Viewers left the video with a variety of comments, from support to outrage. Some of the commenters even left remarks on John’s physical appearance and previous videos, saying that he was a “loser” for not paying his tab.

Why Didn’t John Figure Out a Way to Pay for His Meal?

A majority of commenters thought it was unusual and frankly upsetting that John didn’t try to find a way to pay for his tab. Likewise, they were confused as to why he would post about the situation and “brag” about not being able to pay for a meal at Longhorn Steakhouse.

Viewers recommended that John and his wife stay away from eating out if they cannot reasonably pay for their dinner. As one commenter wrote, “If you’re at the point where your credit card declines, maybe you shouldn’t eat out.”

But, once they ended up in a situation with an unpaid tab, viewers argued that they were obligated to get out of it themselves. Some recommended that one member of the duo stay at the restaurant, while the other retrieves a wallet or payment method. In this case, John’s wife should have stayed at the table while John went to get his debit card or cash at home. After all, he never said that his payment method would decline, just that he didn’t have it with him.

Commenters reiterated this multiple times, saying things like, “what you should have done is one of you [gone] home and one stayed, got your money and came back and paid and got your partner and gone home.”

Others suggested setting up Apple Pay just in case of emergencies. Apple Pay provides fast and easy access to a debit card without having to have it physically on hand. Most major restaurants and chains have card readers that can take Apple Pay.

According to online sources, Longhorn Steakhouse is one of many establishments that take Apple Pay, along with other digital payment methods.

In that regard, there was “no excuse” for not providing a payment.

Was the Dinner Actually Paid for All Along?

Some viewers alluded to the fact that John and his wife may have actually paid for their dinner. Presumed friends left comments indicating this, saying, “the amount of people that think you really did this… how was dinner guys?” John replied and said that dinner was “great.”

According to a later update from John on Monday, the post was “rage-bait.” He had paid for the dinner earlier in the night and apparently made the video as a joke. Then, many viewers took the opportunity to personally attack him due to his “dine-and-dash,” leading him to clarify that he did not, in fact, do anything wrong.

A commenter named Danny even pointed out the fact that John had “golds,” referring to his gold grillz, which are likely authentically plated and custom-made.

“I’ve done more for my community in the last two years than you’ve probably done in your entire life,” John said, referring to his accounts focused on addiction recovery.
