AAA Texas: Low gas prices to start New Year, San Antonio average among cheapest (ktsa.com) — San Antonio drivers are now paying about $2.35 a gallon for regular gas, one of the cheapest averages in Texas and down 18 cents from last week. AAA Texas says statewide prices are the lowest in about five years, thanks to stable crude costs, strong global supply, and softer demand.

Here's which San Antonio schools opted in to the state's voucher program (expressnews.com) — Nearly 100 schools and pre-K centers in and around San Antonio have been approved to accept new state-funded education vouchers, with most on the city’s North Side. Families could receive $10,500 to $30,000 for private tuition and services, and Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of San Antonio are participating, though some elite local private schools opted out.
   

3. San Antonio is building its 25th public pool. Here's what to know. (expressnews.com) — San Antonio is moving ahead with plans for its 25th free public pool, an aquatics facility at the Mission Marquee Complex on the South Side. If final designs are approved Jan. 21, construction on the $5.2 million project would start this summer and wrap up in fall 2027, bringing a new pool, bathhouse, parking and nearly 90 new trees to the area.

Texas A&M–San Antonio women win big 93-58; Men lose tight battle (ksat.com) — Texas A&M University–San Antonio’s women’s basketball team rolled to a 93–58 home win over Louisiana Christian, stretching its winning streak to five games behind strong guard play and pressure defense. The men’s team fell just short, 78–76, but both Jaguars squads will be back on their home court Saturday against LSU Alexandria.
