'They're on every corner': New law targets businesses behind illegal bandit signs (kens5.com) — San Antonio residents are seeing tougher enforcement against those “bandit” signs cluttering medians, poles, and busy intersections, thanks to a new Texas law that boosts fines on repeat offenders. Local code officers and volunteers already remove illegal signs, and residents are allowed to pull them down or report them via 311, empowering neighborhoods to fight visual blight and potential scams.
   

2. Long-planned SAPD substation starting to take shape on south side (kens5.com) — Work is finally underway on a new $19 million San Antonio Police Department substation on the city’s south side near South Flores and Roosevelt, funded by the 2022 bond. The 18-acre site will centralize service for District 3, support rapid growth around Mission del Lago, and could host additional community-focused services shaped by neighborhood input.

5. San Antonio sees surge in mental health calls after Camila Olmos' story gains attention (news4sanantonio.com) — San Antonio’s chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Health is seeing daily calls jump from about 19 to as many as 62 after local resident Camila Olmos’ story drew national attention. Staff say more people are reaching out to process grief and prioritize their mental health, and they’re urging residents to use NAMI’s warm line for support.
