Father of the Year Candidate Goes Up for Raping Baby Mama, Beating Park Ranger
A Houston man was convicted for attempting to rape a woman and beating a park ranger in Sugar Land.

Sugar Land, TX -- Miguel Angel Velasquez seems like a real nice guy. At around 3 a.m. on June 23, 2014 Velasquez took the mother of his child to Cullinan Park.
Although Cullinan is a city of Houston park, it's in Fort Bend County --specifically the 12300 block of Highway 6 near Sugar Land. Once Velasquez, 27, got his child's mother to the park he raped and beat her.

Conrad Wilturner, a park ranger, had arrived to check on the park when he caught Velasquez in the middle of raping and beating the mother of his child. Wilturner interrupted the rape and was beaten in the face with a pipe by Velasquez.
After beating Wilturner, Velasquez took off. Running to Sharpstown, where he was apprehended by HPD officers.

On July 12, Velasquez pleaded guilty in the 400th District Court to charges of of aggravated assault on a public servant and sexual assault. Judge Maggie Jaramillo sentenced him to 25 years for beating the park ranger and five years for raping the mother of his child.
Although both sentences will run concurrently, Velasquez won't be going before the parole board for at least 12 years.
