Hello again Fort Bend ISD Parents, Staff and Students,

In this edition of The Scoop from the Supe, I want to begin by sharing some good financial news about our District.
School FIRST Financial Rating
Find out what's happening in Sugar Landfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
The state’s financial accountability rating system developed by the Texas Education Agency has once again awarded Fort Bend ISD the highest rating of A - Superior Achievement. The Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (School FIRST) score for our District this year was 90 points out of 100. The score reflects how our leadership manages financial resources based on 20 separate indicators. I applaud our finance team for once again making sure we earned an A.
Gratitude to the Staff
As I continue visiting our campuses, I have noticed how hard our teachers, administrators, staff and students are working. I know that many of you may feel you are running on fumes. I want you to know I understand, and I greatly appreciate the way you show up every day to give your all for the sake of our children. To each and every person who works for Fort Bend ISD, please keep coming back to inspire and equip our children. You truly are the backbone of this District.
Dulles High School Academic All-Stars
The Dulles High School Academic Decathlon team had an exceptional showing recently at the Pearland Invitational Meet. Team members finished in 1st place, with a score of more than 33,000! It was the best finish at this particular meet in the school’s history. They beat three other former state champion programs by about 5,000 points and won 12 of 15 overall individual categories including a sweep of the scholastic category. Furthermore, Dulles HS’ honor students won 23 of 24 medals and ribbons in their categories. I am amazed by these academic all-stars. And keep in mind, the team came in 2nd at Nationals in 2019! I commend their amazing coaches: Kelsey Halfen, Andrew Hartman, Mark Rosenbalm, Rybecca Kirkpatrick, and Casey Johnston.
Congratulations to our Fine Arts Students
High school theater students from across the district traveled to the Texas Thespian Festival in Grapevine, Texas recently where they competed in a variety of group and individual events to qualify for the International Thespian Festival taking place in June 2022 in Indiana. I am happy to report that 72 Fort Bend ISD students earned the opportunity to compete at the International Festival. The students represent theater programs at 10 of our 11 high schools!
Special Honor for Ridge Point’s Quarterback
And please join me in congratulating Ridge Point High School quarterback Bert Emanuel, Jr. who was just named the FOX 26 – Gallery Furniture High School Player of the Year for the entire Houston area! He will be featured in a special report on Ch. 26 on Sunday, December 12, at 9:30 p.m. This young man had an incredible season. As I have mentioned before, he is also a finalist for the Touchdown Club of Houston’s Athlete of the Year.
I am so impressed by the achievements of our young people and the dedication of their parents, teachers, coaches, administrators and staff who selflessly train, educate, guide and mentor them. Keep up the outstanding work!

Sincerely,Dr. Christie WhitbeckFort Bend ISD Superintendent
