Hello, Fort Bend ISD Community,Â
Find out what's happening in Sugar Landfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
I want to extend my sincere thanks once again to all our dedicated, hardworking educators who took time to engage in our Teacher ThoughtExchange and focus groups. A total of 1,885 thoughts were submitted in the exchange and almost 3,800 thoughts were added as comments to what others had to say about how the District can offer our teachers more support.  Â
More than a dozen important themes have risen to the top, and we are evaluating actions we can take so that our teachers can enjoy improved working conditions. In addition to job-embedded professional development artifacts and campus support walks being made optional previously, we are also allowing staff to wear jeans until spring break.Â

These are quick changes that took effect immediately. By the end of next month, I plan to share some feasible, significant changes that can be implemented as we continue working to demonstrate our appreciation and support for Fort Bend ISD’s teachers.Â
Student Achievements
Please join me in congratulating some of our amazing students whose outstanding achievements prove once again what a great District we have. Â
Dulles Middle School Symphony Orchestra - The Dulles Middle School Symphony Orchestra is an Invited Orchestra at the 2022 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention in San Antonio. The orchestra is led by Sally Kirk, Regan Vogel, Edward Odeh, Tiffany Ye, Stephanie Gustafson and Arnel Dayrit. The annual TMEA event is the largest music educators convention in the nation, drawing more than 30,000 attendees each year. Â
Congressional Award for Community Service - Ridge Point High School Student Zion Alexander has received the Youth Congressional Award for community service. Zion received both the gold certificate and bronze medal from U.S. Rep. Troy Nehls for his extensive volunteer efforts with the Houston Food Bank, East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day service projects.Â
Spelling Bee - E.A. Jones Elementary School student Srikrissh Kandoor and Quail Valley Middle School student Gabrian Rullin are co-champions of the 2022 Fort Bend ISD Spelling Bee. Srikrissh was also last year’s District champion! Colony Meadows Elementary School student Cormac Schindler was named the alternate winner. The two co-champions now advance to the Houston Public Media regional spelling bee next month.  Â
Dance Classic - Hundreds of FBISD dance students participated in the District’s annual Dance Classic. Students from all 11 high schools showcased their talents in solo, duet, small ensemble and full dance team categories. The top soloists were: Â
